Deaf Awareness Training

Location: Face-to-face or online

Capacity: Up to 16 people

Duration: Half day or full day sessions

What to expect

This is a specific disability awareness training course focused on deaf awareness.

The aim is to equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to be able to fully understand how you can become more inclusive of people with a deafness or hearing impairment.

These training sessions can be delivered face-to-face or online. 

Learning outcomes will be tailored to your requirements but can include:

  • Understand the different types and levels of deafness.

  • Develop methods to communicate with deaf people.

  • Appropriate terminology to use.

  • Develop strategies to be able to remove barriers for deaf people.

  • Understanding deaf culture.

  • Gain a basic understanding of British Sign Language.

  • Gain an understanding of reasonable adjustments in the workplace
    for people with hearing loss.

  • How to work effectively with communication support professionals.
